Armando Rayo

"Mando" Rayo's experience is deeply rooted in the community and nonprofit sector.  As an independent consultant, Mando focuses on building capacity and creating opportunities for change in communities with a specialization in Hispanic/Latino engagement.  He is an expert in community engagement, volunteerism, project management, leadership development and social innovation.  Mando is the Director for "Hands On Central Texas", a program of United Way Capital Area.  Hands On Central Texas strengthens communities though meaningful volunteer action.

Revlynn Lawson, Chairperson

Revlynn is a consultant whose areas of expertise include the development of vision, organizational management, strategic planning, fundraising and grant writing.  With over a decade of experience in business, government and the non-profit industry, Revlynn has proven to be an effective leader. Revlynn holds BA degrees in psychology and sociology and an MSW from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA and a JD from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Revlynn is the Committee Director, County Affairs for State of Texas House of Representatives.

SaulPaul

SaulPaul is a hip hop artist, musician, filmmaker and a motivational speaker.  Born into poverty, SaulPaul grew up without parents and was surrounded by drugs and murder, but against all odds, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.  He encountered serious trouble as a teen and is very familiar with both adversity and success.  SaulPaul has performed alongside multi-platinum recording artists, been featured on ABC NEWS, and participated in MTV's Emcee Battle.  SaulPaul invests his time in giving motivational speeches at schools and conferences all over the country, telling his life story to inspire the youth.

Ted Rutherford

Ted is an educator, community organizer and activist promoting social and environmental justice.  Ted is the founder of Responsible Men - an organization dedicated to engaging men in the prevention of gender-based violence and promoting equality.  In addition, Ted works as the Youth Outreach Specialist for the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault.  As a Youth Outreach Specialist, Ted supports youth leaders across Texas in their efforts to make positive changes in their schools and communities and to defeat sexual and dating violence.  Ted holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Education degree from the University of Montevallo.  He proudly serves on TAASA's Men's Task Force and the Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Task Force at SafePlace.  

Katie Shanahan, LMSW

Katie has worked internationally in both London and Australia focusing on empowering at risk populations and community development.  She now works with adolescents involved with the Travis County Juvenile Justice system.  Katie has completed the East Austin Leadership Development Program and is committed to preserving the culture and community within East Austin.  Katie holds a masters degree in Social Work from The University of Texas.
